The Bread of Life, Pt. 5
March 30, 2014 Speaker: Brent Small
Passage: John 6:60–6:71
In this sermon podcast on John 6:60-71; Pastor Brent exhorts you with four “deadly responses” to Jesus teaching that you must avoid.
The great sermon on the “Bread of Life” has concluded. It is now time for the Galilean crowd in the synagogue in Capernaum to respond to Jesus’ message. The final song has been sung and the altar call has been made leaving only one thing left for the crowd to do, and that is believe upon Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.
However, we find a shocking and somewhat disturbing response in the closing verses of chapter 6. Not only was there no response of belief amongst the crowd, Jesus reveals that even one of the twelve would betray Him in unbelief.
After a powerful sermon where Jesus reveals that He is the Bread that leads to life, eternal life, the crowds did not believe and in fact they saw His message as offensive.
In these final verses, the Apostle John records four “deadly” responses to Jesus’ message that must be avoided if one wants to truly gain eternal life.
