The Christmas Gift That Never Fades
December 1, 2013 Speaker: Brent Small
Passage: 1 Peter 2:21–2:25
In this sermon podcast on 1 Peter 2:21-25, Pastor Brent offers five “powerful truths” concerning the cross and why its power is the Christmas gift that never fades.
Every year the world exchanges gifts as a part of the Christmas celebration. Receiving gifts from others is a true blessing. Gifts bring a special measure of grace to our lives as they bring excitement, joy and usefulness to our daily life. However, no matter the quantity or quality of any earthly gift we receive, its luster will eventually fade.
As we celebrate the Christmas season we must remember that God has given us a gift of grace through our Lord Jesus Christ. More specifically, God has given us a Christmas gift that never fades that is located in the power of the cross.
The cross of Jesus Christ saves the sinner from the power, presence and penalty of sin when its atoning work is applied to the heart by repentance and faith. The power of the cross is that which secures us eternally as a child of God. However, it is the power of the cross that also enables us to live out the demands of the Christian life. This power is ever present and available to believers as it never fades or dies.
In this message Pastor Brent turns our attention to a gift that will never fade: the gift of grace that lies in the power of the cross.
