Topic: Regeneration Passage: John 3:16–3:21
In this sermon podcast on John 3:16-21; Pastor Brent offers the fourth and final “key truth” of this ongoing series that is necessary to enter the kingdom of God.
The kingdom of God is a kingdom of salvation. God’s kingdom is one where his transforming and saving reign is found and experienced. There are keys to enter this kingdom. In the story of Jesus’ encounter with Nicodemus, Jesus unfolds these keys for us.
Nicodemus surely thought that he already was a member of God’s kingdom but he was trusting in the wrong things. Jesus tells Nicodemus that he must be “born again.” He must receive the regenerating work of the Father before he can be saved and enter the kingdom.
And now in John 3:16, John gives us the ultimate reason why any man enters the kingdom of God. If we believe and enter His kingdom, we do so because of the marvelous love of God. It is the love of God that motivated Christ’s earthly mission to die for sin and for the sinner. Therefore, it is the great love of God that is the ultimate reason why every believer finds a place in God’s kingdom. In this final message of this series, Pastor Brent unfolds the love of God in the earthly mission of Christ and ties it to our place in God’s kingdom.
