God’s Recipe for a Healthy Church, Pt. 3
May 13, 2012
Topic: Church Passage: 1 Thessalonians 5:16–5:18
In this sermon podcast on First Thessalonians 5:16-18, Pastor Brent offers “3” tools to seek God and grow our relationship with Him.
As the Apostle Paul began his concluding exhortations to this young church he turned his attention to the ongoing spiritual health of the church. Beginning in First Thessalonians 5:12 and extending all the way to verse 22, Paul delivers God’s recipe for a healthy church. This recipe features key relationships that are found within the church: 1) the relationship between church leader and church member, 2) the relationship amongst church members and 3) the relationship of the individual church member with his or her God.
In verses 16-18, the Apostle Paul transitions to the third relationship: the personal relationship of each church member with God. If a local church is to be healthy and growing spiritually, each individual member must actively cultivate his relationship with God. The spiritual health of any church will grow and thrive in direct proportion to each member’s pursuit of Him. In essence, our individual worship of God will impact our corporate worship of Him.
In this message, Pastor Brent offers “3” tools to enable us to seek God and strengthen our relationship with Him.
