Do You Love the Church?, Pt. 1
December 18, 2011 Speaker: Brent Small
Topic: Love Passage: 1 Thessalonians 2:17–2:20
In this sermon podcast on 1 Thessalonians 2:17-20, Pastor Brent challenges all believers to consider their love for the church using the model of the Apostle Paul.
For nearly two chapters the Apostle Paul commended the Thessalonian believers for the authenticity of their faith while also asserting the integrity of his own personal gospel ministry. Paul’s goal has been to strengthen their faith to withstand persecution and to grow in godly living.
However as one approaches the end of chapter 2 and considers the essence of chapter 3, the deep-seated love and affection that Paul has for the Thessalonian church cannot be missed. The Apostle Paul loved the church. In fact, the Apostle loved all the flocks that were born of his ministry and he time and again expresses this love in his letters. Paul’s model being filled with love for the church serves to confront all believers and all churches to consider their love for the church.
In this message Pastor Brent begins a multi-part series to fuel the flames of our love for the church. In this first message covering 1 Thessalonians 2:17-20 Pastor Brent exposes two elements of Paul’s love for the Thessalonian believers.
