Fighting for Personal Holiness

January 1, 2017 Speaker: Brent Small Series: Independent Sermons

Topic: Holiness Passage: 2 Corinthians 7:1–7:1

In this sermon podcast, Pastor Brent gives us 2 “exhortations” to fight for personal holiness.

A new year calls for renewed commitments in our lives. From exercise to finances to Bible reading we are motivated at the beginning of a new year to a greater resolve in many areas. While the many commitments that we make may be good and useful, our lists of resolutions may be missing an important one - that of personal holiness.

In 2 Corinthians chapter 7, Paul asserts the very priority of personal holiness. He makes the case that Christians are now the temple of the Living God and that fact has implications. As Christians we must seek personal holiness because there is no partnering of God with idols.

As another year begins, we must not fail to prioritize the seeking of holiness. Paul is so committed to this truth that he gives the Corinthians and all believers two exhortations to seek and fight for personal holiness.
