Kingdom Seekers, Pt. 7
Topic: Worry Passage: Matthew 6:25–6:34
In this sermon podcast on Matthew 6:25-34; Pastor Brent presents 6 “convincing arguments” concerning worry and anxiety that compel us to seek first His kingdom and righteousness.
Is God and His righteousness the priority of your life? As Christians, we must take time to evaluate our walk with the Lord. The world’s lures, the pressures of life, trials, circumstances, you name it - it can all creep in suddenly, and anything but God is on the throne of our hearts.
Yet, we have been redeemed and transferred into the Kingdom of God. God is now the center of our lives and it is His kingdom and His righteousness that must be our pursuit. How do we know this? In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus instructs every Christian to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.
The Sermon on the Mount is a powerful message from Christ that confronts the sinner concerning any attempt at a works-based righteousness and leads the sinner to the true path to salvation and righteousness that is found in Christ and His gospel. However, the Sermon on the Mount is also instructive for believers.
Jesus’ words teach us, as believers, how we must live out the righteousness of God in a manner that is genuine, authentic and honoring to Him. In verses 25-34 Jesus instructs us concerning worry and anxiety. In His teaching, Jesus confronts us with the reality that worry and anxiety are really “self-worship” and are an impediment to the worship of God. We are not to worry over our material needs. We are to worship God seeking first His kingdom and righteousness and He will provide all that we need on this earth.
