The Power of the Cross
Topic: Cross Passage: 1 Peter 2:21–2:25
In this sermon podcast, Pastor Brent unloads four “powerful components” of the cross that enable you to live out your Christian life to the glory of God.
Every Christian possesses a testimony. That testimony is the account of how God caused you, a sinner, to be born again through the power of His Word. In Peter’s first epistle, Peter states that a believer was not born with a perishable seed, but an imperishable seed, the Word of God.
The central truth from the Word of God that brings salvation is the gospel. It is the gospel containing the message of the cross that unleashes its saving power in the life of the sinner. However, is the power of the cross fully discharged at salvation? Or, does the cross contain power to live out the Christian life for the glory of God?
In 1 Peter 2:21-25, we learn that the message of the cross is not only powerful to save but it is also powerful to fuel the Christian life. As one struggles through suffering, the battle with sin, Satan’s temptations to sin and to feel guilt over sin, there is power in the cross to navigate these challenges to the glory of God.
As believers, we often forget of the power of the cross. We remember it as it relates to our salvation, but do we remember it and access it to live the Christian life?
