Navigating the Waters of Life

May 3, 2015 Speaker: Brent Small Series: Independent Sermons

Topic: Life

In this sermon podcast, Pastor Brent offers five “navigational tools” in order to navigate the difficult waters of life.

For centuries, sailors have rounded the tip of South America known as “Cape Horn” to deliver their precious cargo around the world. However, the trip around the Cape presents every ship and its captain with several navigational challenges. Fierce winds, rogue waves and icebergs darken the path of the narrow Drake Passage which is the prime lane to get around the horn. The dangers and difficulties are real.

Life is very similar to sailing around Cape Horn. Life brings many difficult challenges. But, life also brings its rogue waves. Unforeseen tragedies, untimely deaths, and debilitating health issues are just a few examples of what one might face. And, there are those tragedies that seem unfair and unjust. The death of children. The death of a young father and husband. Often times these tragedies leave us wondering why.

In this message, Pastor Brent offers some tools from Scripture to help us navigate life and its difficult waters. If we have these tools and are prepared for the rough waters when they come, then we will be able to maneuver these waters in a way that honors the Lord and move on with hope and encouragement.
