For His Glory, Pt. 2
Passage: John 9:13–9:41
In this sermon podcast on John 9:13-41, Pastor Brent offers 3 aspects of Christ’s identity that serve to glorify God.
Jesus has just performed a grand miracle by healing a man who has been blind from birth. This was a rare miracle. So rare that the man’s neighbors were not even sure it was the same man. His neighbors were so stunned they took him to the Pharisees because they wanted to know how they should interpret this powerful healing.
Amazingly enough, the Pharisees cannot give them an explanation. The Pharisees are most concerned about the identity of Jesus. They are most concerned that He be seen as a sinner for breaking the Sabbath instead of Him getting the glory He deserves as the Messiah who is now in their midst.
This miracle, which was clearly a sign to point to Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God, only served to fuel the unbelief of the Pharisees. As the drama unfolds, three aspects of Christ’s identity come to the surface: the question, the confirmation and the response.
