The Need for Evangelism
Passage: Ephesians 2:1–2:3
In this sermon podcast on Ephesians 2:1-3; Pastor Brent reveals three descriptive elements of the sinner’s hostile relationship with God so that believers might better understand the need for evangelism.
In 2 Corinthians 5:20 the Apostle Paul calls every believer an “ambassador” of God. He states that the purpose of his own ministry was to make an urgent appeal to sinners to be reconciled to God. The thrust of his message was the gospel and the gospel was in essence a plea to sinners to exchange a hostile relationship with God for a friendly relationship with God. This was not only Paul’s ministry but it is the ministry of every believer.
The need for every believer to fulfill this ministry of evangelism becomes very clear when one truly understands the nature of this “hostile” relationship between God and sinners. In Ephesians 2:1-3, the Apostle Paul describes the sinner’s life in a manner that brings light to the need for evangelism.
