The Presentation of the King
Passage: Matthew 21:1–21:17
In this sermon podcast Pastor Brent identifies six “descriptions” of Jesus Christ as the King of the Jews.
Modern day kings, presidents and prime ministers are installed in their offices with unprecedented pomp and circumstance. The ceremonies which surround their official inauguration are clothed in much ceremonial garb.
Jesus Christ is the King of the Jews. Nearly 2,000 years ago, on Palm Sunday, Jesus presented himself to His people as her king. He was not just any king, He was the promised king, the Annointed One, the Messiah. The nation of Israel had long-awaited this king who was promised to be her Savior and Deliverer.
Matthew records for us the account of his official presentation. How was He received? What details surrounded this presentation? How was He received by the people? And, did He establish His kingdom?
In this sermon Pastor Brent unfolds the surrounding drama of Jesus presentation of himself to His people as her King.
