Gospel Living, Pt. 4
Passage: Titus 2:3–2:5
In this sermon podcast on Titus 2:3-5; Pastor Brent exposes six “biblical instructions” for women to live out so that they will not dishonor the Word of God.
In chapter 2 the Apostle Paul is calling the Cretan believers to live a life consistent with the gospel message that they have embraced by faith. By faith, they are to now live manifesting behavior that is consistent with the gospel’s message. Their lives were to be marked by gospel-living.
Paul lays the foundation for gospel-living in verses 11-15 and then expands on what it means to engage in gospel-living in chapter 2 verse 1 and also again in verse 5. To live a life consistent with the gospel, one must engage in behavior that is “fitting for sound doctrine” and also that which will not “dishonor” the Word of God.
At the beginning of chapter 2 Paul focuses on the behavior that older men are to manifest in order to live out the gospel and sound doctrine. Now, in verses 3-5 Paul shifts to older and younger women. In these verses he specifically instructs women with behavior that is fitting for the gospel, sound doctrine and that will bring honor to the Lord and His Word.
As Pastor Brent looks into this text he exposes six “biblical instructions” for women to be lived out so that they will not dishonor the Word of God.
