Gospel-Living, Pt. 2
Passage: Titus 2:11–2:15
In this sermon podcast on Titus 2:11-15; Pastor Brent offers the final two “commands,” that when followed, enable us to engage in gospel-living.
In his letter to Titus, Paul had given Titus three directives to restore spiritual health to the churches on the island of Crete. In chapter 1, Titus’ first directive was to establish godly leadership in each local church.
Beginning in chapter 2, Paul now focuses on his second directive to Titus, which was to teach and model sound doctrine. Titus was to teach the older men and women behavior fitting for sound doctrine so that they could teach the younger men and women. Titus was also to instruct slaves in behavior fitting for those who had believed in the gospel.
Throughout this chapter Paul has a specific point in mind: Those who have embraced the gospel by faith must live a life consistent with the message of the gospel. Every believer is to engage in gospel-living.
What does it mean to engage in gospel-living? How are we to engage in gospel-living? In this message Pastor Brent answers these questions and calls us to heed the message of the New Testament to live a life consistent with the gospel.
