The Hope of Immanuel

December 23, 2012 Speaker: Brent Small Series: Christmas

Topic: God’s Promises Passage: Isaiah 9:1–9:7

In this sermon podcast on Isaiah 9:1-7; Pastor Brent discovers four “hope-filled” blessings that were promised to the nation of Israel through the birth of Immanuel.

The story of the prophecy of Immanuel in Isaiah 7 is a story of an unfaithful king who would not listen to God nor place faith in Him. It is also the story of an unfaithful people whose hearts were far from God being filled with idolatry and sin.

However, in the midst of this people’s lack of faith, God makes a faithful promise. This promise had meaning both to those who received it and for those who would receive its future fulfillment. This promise held both the promise of judgment and the promise of future blessing.

In Isaiah 9, the prophet unfolds the future hope and blessing that Immanuel would provide to God’s people. In this message, Pastor Brent seeks to discover that message of hope for Israel and the hope that extends to the whole world.
