Do You Love the Church, Pt. 3
Passage: 1 Thessalonians 3:6–3:10
In this sermon podcast on 1 Thessalonians 3:6-10, Pastor Brent fans the flame of our love for the church by exposing “4” correlating effects between faith working through love and the spiritual vitality of the believer and the church.
The Apostle Paul sent Timothy back to Thessalonica to find out if they had stood firm in their faith against intense persecution. Now, as Paul writes to the church, in verses 6-10 of chapter 3 Paul recounts the report he received from Timothy. The Thessalonians had stood firm in the faith. Not only had they stood firm but they also possessed a faith that was expressing itself in love for the church, love for the lost and love for Paul himself.
The report of their faith working through love and their love directed toward Paul had a profound effect on Paul personally. Paul was spiritually energized in his own spirit by the faith and love of the Thessalonians. As Pastor Brent explains Paul’s response to their faith he shows how the faith and love of believers actually contributes to the spiritual vitality of other believers and to the church.
